I love to ski, and have been doing so since I was two years old. I take it pretty seriously, and really it consumes most of my life. Although, I do have a few other hobbies, which include golf, rock climbing, and watching professional and collegiate sports. Lastly, I've wanted to go to Penn State since I was born and love State College.

- If they made a TV show about your life, what would it be called? Why?
If there was a TV show about my life, it would probabaly be called "Unlucky." Basically, I have the worst luck - so the show would simply be about the weird situations I always end up in. It would be a lot like Seinfeld, exept with myself as the main character.
An interesting story:
My name was infact supposed to be Michael Jerad Friedline, rather than Jerad Michael Friedline. Although when my dad was asked what my name was, he wrote Jerad Michael Friedline instead of Michael Jerad (Concerned that people would make fun of me for having a name similar to Michael J. Fox's).
Week 1 Reading Responses
What is a group?
In my own words, a group is two or more people that work together to complete a task. The people may have similar or completely different interests, but regardless must work together. Arguments may or may not arise, but everyone must complete their share of the project or pull their own load. Because working in a group affects multiple people as well as your individual self, there is more personal responsibility for each member of the group. When I personally think of and describe a group, it usually has to do with doing work or completing a project. Although, many different types of groups exist in today's society. Groups of friends or groups of people with similar interests exist solely for fun and satisfaction. The role of each group member changes from completing a task to simply just enjoying each other’s presence. Groups are beneficial in many different ways. The presence of people with different ideas, beliefs, and thoughts broaden your horizons and expand your very own thought process. If and when individuals work together in groups, it not only is more efficient in solving problems; it is also healthy for the mind.
Of the groups you belong to, choose one and explain what stage the group is in.
As a freshman during the first week of college, I believe my group of new friends is in the ‘Forming’ stage. All of us have the desire to be accepted by one another and feel that the group is safe. We all still ask questions about hometowns, old friends, family, etc. to gather the impressions, data, similarities, and differences that are discovered during the ‘Forming’ stage. Controversial subjects related to politics, religion, or passed relationships are generally not brought up to avoid the possibility of conflict. Also, from what I have experienced and noticed, most people with similar interests and beliefs have been interacting more with each other than others. This particular characteristic relates to the making preferences for future sub grouping action in the ‘Forming’ stage. Although the members may think that they know each other fairly well, we cannot grow as a group into the next stage without relinquishing the comfort of non-threatening topics and maybe encountering a conflict or two.
